How It Works

Starlight Foundation

When a once-bright life becomes dulled by needles, hospital visits and painful treatments, Starlight helps sick kids forget their illness and rediscover the joy of childhood.

There’s a Starlight Express Room in every children’s hospital in Australia. In these vibrant medical-free zones our superhero, Captain Starlight, brightens the world for seriously ill children and their families.

Through games, movies, performances and more, Starlight helps sick kids forget their illness for a while and get down to the serious business of having fun! Captain Starlight also brightens the otherwise clinical wards with daily ward rounds full of jokes, magic and laughter. There are over 160 Captain Starlights delivering joy around the country!

Save The Children

We were all migrants once. When beginning a new life in Australia, learning a different language and customs is daunting - especially for newly arrived refugee families, who are still dealing with the loss and trauma associated with their homeland.

And once they arrive in Australia, they often experience racism, discrimination and isolation.

It Takes a Village supports children and mothers to break down these barriers. Children come together for programs that support their mental health and well-being, and improve their readiness for school. Mothers make connections, learn language skills, and develop pathways to employment.

Save the Children believes every child deserves a bright future, a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and be protected from harm.

National Breast Cancer Foundation

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed in their lifetime, and 8 Australian women lose their life every day.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research to create a better tomorrow for all those impacted.

Our mission is simple: stop deaths from breast cancer. How? By identifying, funding and championing world-class research - that helps us detect tumours earlier, improve treatment outcomes, and ultimately save lives. We receive no government funding. With your support, we can move closer to our goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
