So you're ready to start planning your nursery?
Congratulations! Creating your bub's very first bedroom is one of the most exciting parts of the buying process.
But, we know it can get confusing. With so many options, we've laid out the essentials you need, with options to suit every budget.
Step 1: Bub's first bed.
Do you want your baby to sleep in a bassinet, or go straight to a cot?
Both are good options, and often the decision is based on how much space you have in your room.
It's safest to have bub close to you in the early months, so many parents choose a bassinet or co-sleeper as they can't fit a full sized cot in their bedroom.

A compact cot is a good compromise between a bassinet and a full sized cot.
They are often on wheels, so are easy to move around, and may still fit in your bedroom. The bonus is your child won't grow out of it as quickly, saving you from buying both a bassinet and a cot.
Step 2: Pick a cot
If you decided to go with a bassinet first, you can come back to this later, once your baby grows out of it.
However many people choose to buy cot at the same time so the nursery is all ready to go once bub is!

Whilst there's not much a baby needs, you do need somewhere to change them, and somewhere to put their clothes.
Furniture packages are a great way to go to save on buying the whole set, including chests and change tables.
Alternatively, if you want to use your existing storage, there are some great stand alone or portable changing options.
Step 4: Style it to make it your own!
Whether you have a theme in mind, or just want to add a splash of colour, there are plenty of fun options to choose from.
Our top tip is to create style with sheets and blankets; which are both pretty and practical!
